Saffron of San Gimignano

After the reintroduction of the saffron production in San Gimignano, also our farm, in 1999, dedicated itsself to this precious bulb that takes us back in the Middle Ages.

The precious spice, well known with the Saffron name, is obteined drying the three stemens of the flower.The flower blooms a the end of October and daily we pick them early in the morning so insects can't damage the delicate flower; the flower has inside three stemens from whose, after a drying process, we obtein the saffron.

For a better identification of our product we sell it only in stemens and not in powder; all the entire making process (coultivation, harvesting and drying) is made by hand and not using chemical products.

Saffron is perfect with pasta or rabbit.
